printed_circuit_boards
This is an old revision of the document!
These pages are about designing our own custom printed circuit boards. Our driving project is the DIO Test board. We're starting by using software called kicad.
There's a decent set of kicad videos made by parts distributor Digi-Key: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaCVh2SAZY4 .
Other text and video kicad tutorials can be found online.
On these pages are some hints and things to remember - without watching the videos for the 14th time.
- KiCad custom symbols - if our schematic needs a symbol that's not in the library already
- KiCad CvPCB - transitioning our design from schematic to layout
- KiCad Custom Footprints - if we need a part that doesn't have a board footprint already
